Pamela Anderson takes back control of her narrative in new Netflix documentary

The star revealed that rehashing of the infamous sex tape scandal made her “feel sick.”

Pamela Anderson is getting the chance to tell her story her way in the trailer for upcoming Netflix documentary, Pamela, a Love Story.

The flick, directed by Ryan White, seeks to uncover the truth behind Anderson’s rollercoaster career and love life – including the infamous sex tape scandal with Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee – through the lens of the star herself.

Speaking in the trailer, Anderson says: “I blocked that stolen tape out of my life in order to survive and now that it’s all coming up again, I feel sick. I want to take control of the narrative for the first time.”

Announcing the documentary in March on Instagram, Anderson wrote: “My life. A thousand imperfections. A million misperceptions. Wicked, wild and lost. Nothing to live up to. I can only surprise you. Not a victim, but a survivor. And alive to tell the real story.”

The documentary comes after renewed interest in Anderson’s personal life following the release of the controversial Disney+ series, Pam & Tommy – where Anderson was played by Lilly James. The show came in for criticism after it was revealed that Anderson had no involvement in the series, with James claiming in an interview with Net-a-Porter that she tried to reach out to Anderson but received no response.

“I was really hopeful that she would be involved,” James said. “I wish it had been different.”

The official synopsis for the documentary reads: “An intimate and humanising portrait of one of the world’s most famous blonde bombshells. Pamela, a love story follows the trajectory of Pamela Anderson’s life and career from small-town girl to international sex symbol, actress, activist and doting mother.”

Pamela, a Love Story, will be released on Netflix January 31st.
